1. Participation in job fairs by station personnel:

A. WBA Job/Career Fair 2007 Winter Conference -
Tuesday, January 23, 2007 at the Monona Terrace Convention Center in Madison, Wisconsin. Attended by Roger Williams, General Sales Manager. Handed out job descriptions, answered questions and took in resumes. Resumes then distributed to station department heads.

B. NAACP Diversity Job Fair -
Tuesday, February 6, 2007 at the Midwest Airlines Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Attended by Lauri Jones, Program Director. Handed out job descriptions, answered questions and took in resumes. Resumes then distribued to station department heads.

C. WBA’s 2008 Job/Career Fair-
Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at the Monona Terrace in Madison, Wisconsin. Attended by Traci Northrop, General Sales Manager for WJZX and WJMR. Handed out job descriptions, answered questions and took in resumes. Resumes then distributed to station department heads.



2. Internship Program

- this mentoring/intern position offers employee an entry level position in the world of radio. This program provides interns with the tools they need to have a successful career in radio.

4. Training program for station personnel:

-Sales Assistant
On going - Training in all aspects of radio sales. Creating proposals, filing, copy, traffic, etc. Entryway into radio sales coordinator or radio sales position.

- Production
On going - Training in all aspects of radio production. Locating and assembling commericals for local, national and syndicated advertisers, operation of appropriate computer programs. Expectations will be to utilize gained abilites when production department needs assistance.

- Morning Show Producer / News Anchor
On going - Training on operation of mixing board during syndicated morning show and training as the local news anchor on WJMR.

- Entry to Sales
On going - Current employees in areas other than sales have the opportunity to train in all aspects of radio sales and move into an entry level sales position.


5. Radio Station Tours conducted to students interested in the broadcasting industry. All departments are visited and responsibilities are discussed with students having an opportunity to interact with employees.

A. March 19, 2007 - Bum Rush 2007 at Bradley Tech High School. Attended by WJMR General Sales Manager Roger Williams

B. April 23, 2007 - Bum Rush 2007 at Bradley Tech High School. Attended by WJMR General Sales Manager Roger Williams

C. Carthage College - April 27, 2007 - Attended by President/General Manager, Tom Joerres. Open discussion with students and faculty on the process that goes into producing outcomes.

D. March 17, 2007 - Rich Lundey, Production Manager. Met with Phillip Walters, senior at UW Whitewater regarding required senior class project. Discussed information relating to a career in radio production and broadcasting and the background needed for such a field.

E. May 2007 - Annmarie Topel - General Sales Manager. Spoke at two - one hour classes at Waukesha High School regarding Media and Radio in general.

F. October 19, 2007 – Tom Joerres - President/General Manager spoke at Carthage College on the Fine Arts Advisory Committee.

G. January 15, 2008 – Monica Stoffel from Marian College majoring in Communications job shadowed Traci Northrop – General Sales Manager, WJMR, WJZX. Monica spent the day experiencing the sales and promotions aspect of radio.

H. February 2008-2009 – Sandy Jung – Executive Administrator/Graphic Designer. Serving on the Education Committee at the Eisner Museum. The Education Committee is responsible for the museum's "educational" events - such as the Only @ the Eisner, a lecture series for college kids, Advertising Boot Camp - a workshop series for Juniors & Seniors in High School looking to go into advertising, Ads by Kids - an event for grade school children to create their own ad and fundraisers, and launching a complimentary mentoring program and a database of speakers.
